M1 - Marketing and Distribution (Justify content)

For marketing and distribution, our group will be setting up the Artist with social media accounts, appealing to the wider popular and target audience to build up the knowledge and a fan base around the band so they gain more attention.

YouTube icon Logo PNG Transparent & SVG Vector - Freebie ...As the current attitude for music distribution is to download and stream it off platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and iTunes, we will attempt to add the music onto these sites at a low and non-existent cost. We will promote the music being on these sites with Twitter and Instagram posts along with short, promotional clips to hopefully drag in an audience.

We are going to create social media accounts for the artist on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube (which they have agreed to) along with these accounts ourselves, so we can work together in and as a production company.

HOWEVER -

Since the product we are making is a music video, we would aim to get it distributed on a music video platform. YouTube is personally a great platform. Many music videos in the same genre as ours are around the same duration that we are aiming for (2:30-3:30), so YouTube would be a good platform to distribute it. The views on both of these music videos have between 10-14M views so it would give our artist a lot of exposure! Our target audience will have access to YouTube, and the site does get a lot of traffic and is completely free to use. The form will also be appropriate as YouTube is a site that allows MP4 videos to be along with the audio as well. Perfect for a music video!

There are also amazing music channels such as 4Music, a British free-to-air tv channel dedicated to show music videos. Most music videos are between around 3-3:30 minutes so our music video, and the length we want it to be, would fit into this timeslot. Also, the form of the music video would be good as we are going to export a Pro-res version so it can be shown on tv.

Things To Be Aware of On Social Media - IntelligentHQ
The artist doesn't have that much social media presence, due to only being on Instagram and Facebook, so we decided to create a twitter profile for the artist. These social media profiles on the different networking sites mean the artist would have more places where the music could be reached by fans easier and therefore have a greater distribution. Social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter are more popular with millennials (50% for Twitter and 66% for Instagram)^  and Facebook is as equally as popular with millennials and generation X (58%)^ so this will make the artist's music reach the intended target audience and a younger audience so it will expand the fan base. In addition to the social media profiles, we have decided to create a group YouTube channel to further distribute the music video. This is because 62% of YouTube users are male* and the 35+ age group is one of the faster-growing users of YouTube* so, the music video will reach the target audience for the artist. The music video will also appear on all three of our blogs to show that it was a group effort and to also increase the chances of the targeted market seeing it, for larger distribution.

As well as a social media presence we could also screen the music video on more traditional forms of media e.g. music channels on TV such as 4Music, Kerrang! and MTV channels (MTV Rocks/ MTV Hits)

Despite the lower usage of radio as there are newer, modern media such as streaming sites, radio is still a very important feature within broadcasting songs to a wide audience at virtually no cost.

In the UK, the most popular radio station is Radio 2^, with over 15 million weekly listeners. Second, is heart radio which has become the most popular in commercial radio and now extends to 33 stations across the UK**, reaching more than 9.8 million people every week. Seeing that these are the most popular, we would strive to target these radio stations with our song, 'Claws' which might lead to the artist gathering a following on social media, seeing and discovering the music video that we will make.
